A level of profitability unmatched for many years is achieved by the works in the year ending March. With demand and prices falling during the first six months of the new financial year, the No.5 hot dip galvanized line is mothballed in November with the loss of 40 jobs. The line had a rated weekly capacity of 9,000 tonnes but had produced 10,400 tonnes during May 2005. The next generation of branded ocs products is now being developed.
