British Steel Corporation, now in the black after 11 years of loss-making, is replaced by British Steel plc, a public limited company on 5th September 1988. Shotton Works is part of British Steel Strip Products Division.

Stelvetite production ends at Shotton

Production of Stelvetite is transferred from Shotton to Tafarnaubach where a film laminator has been installed in the organic coating line.
