The works extends over 250 acres with 50 acres under buildings and a further 760 acres available for extensions. The workforce totals 5,900. Water consumption is 50 million gallons a week, electricity consumption 1,750.000 units and coal and fuel consumption 6,000 tons. The internal rail system extends for 45 miles, with 255 points and crossings and 16 shunting locomotives, Some 5 000 main line wagons are handled and despatches of sheets by rail, road and water total 7,000 tons.
